    A key player in mobility in the Grenoble area, M’TAG provides more than 87 million trips each year across 62 municipalities of the metropolitan area, serving a population of 552,500 .

    Behind this daily performance lies an invisible yet essential requirement: Maintenance, managed since 2010 using the CARL Source CMMS.

    essential for reliable public transportation

    Behind the scenes of the Grenoble network, M TAG orchestrates a finely tuned operation: 260 buses, 103 trams, 53 km of tracks, and thousands of pieces of equipment must all function
    flawlessly.
    To ensure this reliability, 172 maintenance workers work day and night to safeguard the network’s safety, regularity, and performance.

    In this highly regulated sector, prevention is a top priority: biannual technical inspections of rolling stock, brakes system checks in compliance with STRMTG (Technical Service for Ski Lifts and Guided Transport) standards, maintenance of fixed installations, buildings, electrical substations, etc.

    To manage this complexity, M TAG relies on CARL Source, which has become the digital hub for maintenance performance.

    CARL Source’s integrated management: the power of prevention

    “The main advantage of CARL Source is the creation of intervention plans that incorporate all the manufacturers” recommendations,” emphasizes Emmanuel Ollieric, Operations Manager in the Maintenance Methods department.

    The CMMS response to public transportation business requirements

    Bus | MTAGIn terms of rolling stock, M TAG manages more than 6,600 work intervention plans and 1,300 preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring complete traceability, from engine oil changes to air conditioning systems, to scheduled or usage-triggered checks.

    And CMMS is not limited to rolling stock. Fixed installations (tracks, electrical substations, generators, etc.) are also integrated into CARL Source, with 520 work intervention plans and 780 preventive maintenance tasks, including 230 regulatory ones.

    A CMMS connected to the PCC for increased responsiveness

    Connected to the Centralized Control Station, the CMMS receives reports directly from drivers: incidents, breakdowns, acts of vandalism, etc. Alerts are automatically imported into CARL Source, converted into work requests, and assigned to one of 46 field agents.
    The result: unprecedented responsiveness and seamless coordination between operations and maintenance teams.

    Simplified regulatory maintenance

    With the Control S module, approved organizations now enter their inspection reports directly into the CMMS.
    Corrective actions are generated and tracked automatically, ensuring simple, continuous maintenance that complies with ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 certifications.

     

    Anticipate to better control: optimized inventory management

    More than 14,000 items are tracked in CARL Source. Thanks to forecasts based on contingency plans, needs are anticipated six months in advance:

    • no critical shortages,
    • reduced supply times,
    • and greater budgetary.
